Materials inspire me. I give myself the added challenge of utilizing materials that are destined for the landfill-how to change and manipulate them provides an exercise in creativity and technique, and for me that experimentation is the best part about making art. I determine that the work is successful, the transformation of the materials is complete when I see my viewers looking at it up close to see the details.
